Race Round The World - help to help others !
2nd November 2020
COVID-19 is the biggest crisis we've faced in a generation
Now, over 500 Scout groups - many of them based in communities that were already made vulnerable before the virus hit - are struggling. If these groups close, thousands of young people will miss out on all the life-changing skills and experiences being a Scout can bring, precisely when they need us most.
That's why we're calling all Scouts - and the people who care about them - to join us in a sponsored, virtual #RaceRoundTheWorld.
We've got four teams, each led by two of our brilliant ambassadors.
- Beavers led by Ellie Simmonds and Tim Peake.
- Cubs led by Helen Glover and Steve Backshall
- Scouts led by Ed Stafford and Saray Khumalo
- Explorers led by Megan Hine and Dwayne Fields.
It'd be amazing if you can encourage your young people to travel at least a mile (or as many as they can!), collect sponsorship and log this on our fundraising pages. Walk, run, cycle, kayak - or do one of our international activities at home. You can clock miles up anyway you like!
If you're up for it, parents, carers, friends and other family members can join the race, too! Miles can be done physically or in another way. Head to scouts.org.uk/raceroundtheworld for ideas and more details.
You can track your team's route round the world on our interactive map.
We hope you can join us on this epic adventure, and help us raise vital funds at this vital moment in our history.
Your support means the world, and we can't wait to race all the way round it.
It's easy to sign up, and anyone can take part:
1. Travel a mile or more, wherever you are and however you like (or complete an equivalent activity).
