Building A Rainbow from Painted Stones Fundraising Project

2020 is Year Of The Nurse and it's International Nurses Day 2020 on Tuesday 12th May, 200 years after the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

NHS staff and volunteers are doing phenomenal work right now in caring for COVID-19 patients.

Vladi and Peter Kuna, 1st Harpenden Scouts, have developed a fantastic idea to show our respect and gratitude to nurses, midwifes and all NHS staff and volunteers who work tirelessly in the face of the virus.

Building A Rainbow from Painted Stones

Our gratitude project is called BUILDING A RAINBOW FROM PAINTED STONES

Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Harpenden children will paint rainbows on stones. These personally created stones will be used by to put together a rainbow design at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, outside in their court yard garden or hospital's social club. It will create a personal message from our community and the country, it will be a reminder to stay positive and we hope it will create smiles on All NHS staff who are heroes in our hearts.

It's our turn to make sure we look after them, to ensure they can keep doing their vital work. In these difficult times, it gives us all as individuals, groups and organisations the chance to show we care and to make a difference.

How Can I Help?

All big and little kids please paint a rainbow onto a stone, do use permanent markers as we want the paint to stay on when the stones get rained on !

Please put your painted stones into the wooden crates at these council-approved drop-off points:

Please follow all guidance and rules about social distancing. No social gathering at the drop-off boxes and make this part of daily exercise.

Last collection will be Sunday evening, 10th May.

We are raising money for the Luton & Dunstable Hospital Charitable fund where monies raised go directly to helping Frontline Staff, please pledge your donations here:

We are grateful to all of you who can help "leave a footprint" for this amazing cause.

Thank you

All Harpenden Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and the rest of the community
